RV5 Design Project  : Aluminum RV trailer - 2015

This project was conducted in collaboration with the company Verbom and a group of mechanical engineering students from the University of Sherbrook.

RV5 is a unique RV trailer. It’s mostly built out of aluminum honeycombs panels which makes very. Also, the shape of RV5 makes it aerodynamic since it was inspired from the shape of a drop of water.
These two characteristics allow it to be easily pulled by a family sedan or a compact car. In fact, RV5makes RV camping accessible to bigger part of the population.RV5 was arranged to comfortably accommodate two children and three adults.

The internal space in the trailer is divided into four zones. At the front of the trailer there is a round table that can be converted very simply into a two-place bed.  In the center there is the area of the toilet and the shower. It is perfectly equipped with compact and standard accessories. In front of the toilet, there is the kitchen counter. It’s the perfect area for preparing meals. In addition, this counter has a cylindrical sink, a fridge, a microwave and two electrical outlets. At the back of the trailer there is the rest area. It is equipped with a sofa that becomes a double bed as well as another bunk bed.

Design wise, it was essential to create a continuity between the front and the back of RV5.

Many aesthetic features in RV5 were inspired from nature. More specifically insects.
